Bigfoot Ultra-New 50K Trail Race in Ohio!!

With the success of the Bob Cat Trail Marathon last fall, it turned out that Brandon Huff wasn't done yet. He and Vince Rucci turned their attention to Salt Fork State Park which is located in southeastern Ohio, very near Cambridge, Ohio.

Oh, where I run all the time!!

It was originally conceived as a trail 1/2 marathon, to be held in February. After the past winter, the plans changed. (As the trails were under 2 feet of snow all February long. In fact, the only roads plowed in the park was the main road, and the road to the lodge.)

The race has now been replaced as a 50K Ultramarathon, to be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010. This will be a loop course, 3 10.4 loops. There will also be the option of a 3 person relay.
Note: There will probably be a website change shortly, which I will update here.

Why the name Bigfoot? Well, the Salt Fork State Park has been the area of multiple Bigfoot sightings over the years. In fact, there is an annual Bigfoot conference held right at the Salt Fork Lodge. In fact, it is coming up right soon!

"22nd Annual Bigfoot Conference

May 14 - 16, 2010
That’s right…THE Bigfoot. Attend the conference with guest speakers Bob Gimlin (Researcher from the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film), Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Larry Lund, Tom Yamarone and John Horrigan. For information on the Bigfoot Conference - log on at www.eobic.net.
Stay at Salt Fork Lodge for the event and receive a special room rate."

I just wanted to write a quick blog post and put this out here. Brandon will be updating the website with more info soon.

An added bonus is you can have personal tours of the trails...conducted by the Trail Goddess herself!

Ahh, so this is an inaugural race? I was wondering why I couldn't find last years results... do you know if there's anyone picked to be a front runner?
